History & Architecture
Built around the famous South Zeal Menhir Standing Stone, this 12th-century manor house is set in its own 4-acre monastery gardens. A granite Tudor porch leads to a 536-year-old bar with a roaring log fire, and the inn is one of the oldest in England. The property was once visited for a month by Charles Dickens and is home to a 14th-century pirate.

The hotel has traditionally furnished rooms that retain original wooden beams and stone walls. Each room is decorated with antiques and includes a TV and an en-suite bathroom or shower room.
